While most gas stations in our area average around $4.65 (Peoria more like $4.79, $4.89), it was nice to see Casey's on Rt 29 north of Sheridan at $4.59. So I filled up. But that price is only about .20 cheaper than it has been, and I thought oil prices were dropping because supposedly the US military is escorting more oil tankers safely through the Strait of Hormuz. Even if it's not heading toward US, it's part of the global oil commodities market, so we'll see how soon, or how many pennies gas will drop between now and November 3rd. My opinion and whatever.
$3.99 outside Lake Geneva today. $4.18 @ Loves in Oglesby .
Guess where highest? 🤯

Saw 4.39 in Sherman, while Springfield gas was about 4.59 today. Edit: Noticed Love's Truck stop at Williamsville exit was $4.44 on the way home from Springfield.

Now this post has nothing to do with prices.
You usually don't see many gas stations close down. Especially a brand so prevalent in most of Central Illinois. A Casey's in North Pekin that been there since probably 1995 or so (the one closest to Rt. 29) had its sign, gas pumps removed, and windows covered up yesterday when I went past. North Pekin has another Casey's at Rt.98 and Main Street further north. It's a lot newer. But the older one was my usual stop for gas either on my way to work or home vs. the newer one. The older one used to sell pizza, but stopped when the newer one opened. The Rt. 98 store also added a sub sandwich made fresh area, and offers pizza delivery. They also upgraded their gas pumps in the last 3 months or so.
Something you don't hear about too much.

He and Putin are best buddies, you know. All Donny's talk about sanctions and cutting off funds to them, etc. is just that...talk. After all, I think it was banks in Russia that gave him loans for his corporation when American banks wouldn't.
When he rolls out the Red Carpet for Putin, and criticizes Zelensky for the way he was dressed on his 1st visit; calls on Zelensky to stop bombing Russia diesel areas; wishes Putin a Happy birthday after Russia bombed and killed 100s of civilians in Ukraine...
That should clue all of us on where Donny Boy's allegiance is.
My opinion and mine alone and not my employer's.
There are a handful of places in IL that are under $4 a gallon, one of the being in Utica. I went through Cisco IL today and gas there was $4.29 which is the cheapest I saw on my trip to Lake Shelbyville.

A few hours ago there was a missile attack on Riyadh ,Saudi Arabia airport, The largest airport in Saudi Arabia. It is also the worst attack on any Gulf Arab nation since the war started, Over 300 injured and the number of dead keeps climbing. For some reason the alarms did not sound for the incoming missiles,
Delta Airlines is scheduled to start commercial service there in 2 weeks. It is to be nearing a given that the US will retaliate in some way,
This along with the oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico out of commission due to the storm the price of gas will go back up. Perhaps, but hopefully not, setting a new record.
