All these news outlets list all of REO's big hits, which is fine because Gary most likely co-wrote them. But reading CNN's article made it sound like Kevin Cronin wrote "Riding the Storm Out". Cronin couldn't have written RTSO even if Gary wrote it for him. Still, in my book, Gary's best solo; starts at about the 3 minute mark:

I agree, Kevin. Golden Country is the best. I read today that the original lead singer left the band because Gary wanted to write songs that were too "political". That song still rings true today.

@cjsummers I'm sure it was all due to medical reasons......

I'm hoping all the great early REO albums will be re-released. Some of them are hard to come by, but they are the foundation of a once-great band.

My buddy Jack always hung out in places like these Limelight. He knew Gary and said he always enjoyed meeting him.

On stage or off he was a good guy. Will be missed. Thanks Jack for the pics of you memories of Gary. The last 2 of Gary and his wife. Not that long ago.
