Gardening posts here have slowed down a bit and I'm tired of politics, so trying a non-political topic. I'm so impatient! I'm waiting and waiting for my chili peppers to come in... it's only been 4 weeks. My kale is growing nice. Next time I will buy more so I can harvest more. I harvested a little bit the other day and my son and I each got like one bite (cooked). The mint is growing well. My son wanted that one. My scallions are growing a bit slow for my liking. New to that one as well.

I'm trying to get a good garden going, but time and other projects keep getting in the way. I did manage to get a few things going,

I feel contentment's while playing in the dirt. Relating to the earth has opened my eyes in many things. One is provided for 3 months or more if cared for. Nice to not pay and have veggies that don't taste like cardboard.

I used to have a large garden before we moved here. My wife did a lot of canning and freezing. After we moved to the trailer park, I tried containers for a while and didn't have much luck. Healthy plants, but no produce. I tried a large raised bed and got the same results. I filled theraised bed with lily bulbs and buy my produce down the street at Roth's stand.

We gave up on the vegetable garden two years ago and have herbs in it now. Less rabbit and deer mowing down of it. We still do deck boxes for some hot peppers and tomatoes. Watering those every few days. Also caught that our fruit trees looked heat stressed and watered them today as well.

I can't have anything here. The deer, groundhogs, rabbits, squirrels, chpmunks, raccoons, and/or whatever just eat or dig things up. Usually they don't touch ultra hot peppers but something has dug this one out twice. This goes for a lot of flowers, too.
Mother is having this issue too. Her dog passed away and I think the varmints sense that. The potatoes and sweet potatoes are untouched. Its odd that they don't attack the Swiss Chard. Keeping the raccoons out of the corn will be a battle. The raspberry plants are producing well...black, reds, and goldens.

So far no pests or vermin. (And my area has a HUGE rat problem. Far more than neighboring towns/cities). ) God I hope I didn't jinx it!

Just some herbs here. Cilantro, chives, oregano, basil, rosemary, thyme. I'm not sure there's any smell better than fresh oregano and garlic hitting an hit oiled pan. Edit:
Maybe add some chopped shallots

While the animals roam the grounds, there are plants that help keep certain bugs and other animals away.
Time invested is like walking the aisles of a store, searching for what you need.

So we picked up a few replacement plants last week and yesterday. We went to plant after the "no show" rain this morning and guess what, we got rained on with a 1/4 inch while we planted them. Soaked head to toe.
