Fake Amazon Reviews

I got this letter in the mail a few days ago. If I write a 5 star review on Amazon for their $35 pair of insoles they'll PayPal me $20.

I'm certainly not going to falsify a review for a measly 20 bucks*, if anything I'm inclined to report them, the slimy bastards.

* it's true, everyone has a price, but this isn't even close.

This is not uncommon at all. I've received stuff like this inside the packaging of items. That's why I don't trust Amazon reviews. It has even resulted in me spending money elsewhere…

I stopped reading reviews a long time ago because you can't trust them. I also stopped writing reviews because Amazon has removed some of mine without reason, simply because I wrote a negative review of the product.

I'd leave a review stating "I'm just giving a review to get my $20 gift card" LOL

Just as some people will not shop a certain "big box" stores, I don't shop at Amazon. Don't have "Paypal" or any of the cash substitute products out there.

I don't use credit cards. Yes, many things you can't have.

I used to use debit cards all the time, but after running into having our card skimmed or otherwise stolen and having tons of bogus charges coming out of our checking account before we could catch it and stop it, we are very selective about where we use our debit card, and use our credit card most places.

Cash or debit card for me. I do have a couple of bills that automatically go to the credit card and get paid as soon as they have been "pending" for a day or two. If I do end up using the credit card, I transfer funds very quickly to cover the charge. I refuse to have a balance at the end of the month. I really hate paying interest!

When we finally had the means to get rid of our credit card debt I switched them to auto debit the full amount due every month. No more late fees and exorbitant interest charges made a huge and immediate impact on our bottom line. It sure is nice to be able to SAVE money again!

We mostly use debit card, but also have our checking account attached to our mortgage, Ameren, cable, water, perhaps a couple others. The only checks we write are for church offerings and haircuts. We only have 1 department store credit card that we use mostly for Christmas and end-of-year birthdays. And we get that paid off fairly quickly. Debit card is used to withdraw cash as well in places we prefer to pay cash. Car payment done through our financial institution where the loan is.

I'm curious why some feel debit poses a greater risk for theft than credit. Someone at my office mentioned it but didn't elaborate. (I think he is on the spectrum so hard to follow his thoughts at times)

@AverageSue :
Because debit directly affects your available cash and you are not 100% free of liability. For example if your report a fraudulent charge on your debit card between 2 to 60 days after the charge, you could be liable for up to $500. Report it after 60 days and you are 100% liable. Even if you report it within 2 days, you could be liable for up to $50.

@AverageSue :
I have a debit card but don't use it. Bills are taking out of bank. No checks as well. Cash if one don't take cash its ok. That just meant that I didn't really need it. Simple life.
