The news within the link that RambleOn posted is hilarious. "So far there's no explanation for the closure." Ummmm....Applebee's announced about a month ago that they were going to close some under-performing stores. Could that be it? Kinda sounds like a possibility.
@jimthompson : Yep, a lot of cut rate leases to get businesses in those newer shopping areas of EP. I know a few local restaurateurs who were offered sweet deals but opted to stay where they are.
I have only been to Applebee’s once and that was so long ago it is ancient history. I have never seen a crowd at any Applrbees.Have kind of wondered how they all managed to stay open.
Every time I have been to Chili's, Texas Roadhouse, Red Robin, Chipotle, Panda Express, Granite City, Logans or any other restaurant in that area they have been packed. Applebees was always empty. The only time I ever ate there was once when the wait was too long at Chili's.
That's too bad. Mr. Crafty and I decided to try them again last December while out and about. The menu was new and what we had, was really, really good..service was amazing..so much better then other places we have been lately. We actually went back a second time and ate at the one in Pekin after a funeral visitation. Just so many food places out there..sometimes when we decided to go out..we sit in the car for like 30 mins trying to decide where to go....lol
