Driving down Abington Street hill or north on Perry from Woodruff, Lower Glen Oak Park doesn't look too bad. But get on the trails there and this is what you see. Sidewalks are all but gone. Very sad! Did someone say park maintenance?

If they would let my dad and his chainsaw in there, that would be dealt with in a few days. LOL But he'd want the wood (not that he actually needs anymore, it's the principle); the wood stove in the basement is already rollin'.
But it's a shame. While it is a short trail, there is so much history on it.

@billybob : Been hiking that area for at least ten years. It wasn't good back then and just keeps getting worse. The beautiful old rock bridges are disintegrating. Over time, I watched a sidewalk get undercut and finally slide down into the gully. A storm may take out a tree and it just lays there. I don't remember a time when it was in decent shape.

I don't understand their logic here, if there is any whatsoever.

@PI's Alter Ego : In the 25+ years I've lived in Peoria, it seems like the municipality of Peoria, the park district, the school district, and others would rather keep building new instead of taking care of what they have.

Yeah, I'm quoting myself. I still remember when I wanted to buy a new 10 speed because they were all the rage. Even had more than enough money. My mother told me she wouldn't take me to go buy a new bike because I didn't take care of the one I had. (so why did her and dad get new (used) cars? huh? huh? huh? yeah, that argument didn't work). Maybe my mother needs to be in charge of finances for Peoria. LOL
