billybob : Jerry Van Dyke was funnier than heck. Wasn't he in a silly sitcom called "My Mother The Car"?

Yes. A few months ago there were some reruns from that series on cable. There was a discussion about Jerry Van Dyke. He was born in Danville, Dick moved there was a child. The tv series ran one season and still is regarded as one of the worst ever. I don't see it that way but just reporting what was on tv. I do think, in some ways, that series was way ahead of its time.
The parents had moved to Peoria by that time and that's about the time the article appeared in the Journal Star.

From that there is access to several thousand old tv show episodes and interviews. There is an amazing number of things in those archives about that series and the Van Dyke family.

Jerry Van Dyke had a better show when he played an assistant coach along with Craig T. Nelson on ABC's "Coach"
