Donald Trump and members of the White House have been accused of quietly cutting down dozens of trees to make room for the latest rounds of renovations to his Washington, D.C. golf course.

A Washington Post report stated that as many as 60 trees were removed from an area across from the East Potomac Golf Links before permission was granted. The report added that the trees had been coming down for weeks, ahead of the September 1 start date announced by the president.

It was reported that as of August 27, the administration had not yet released any design plans, construction schedule, or budget for the golf course. Officials have also not said whether the park would be closed while the renovations are being made.

According to an informal count, many of the trees taken down include historic cherry trees and sycamores.
