I CAN'T DRIVE 55!!!

Especially when both East Bound Murray Baker Bridge and East Bound McCluggage bridges are down to 1 lane AT THE SAME TIME!!;

Two construction zones on I-474 in Peoria County from Rt 29 Creve Coeur to almost Airport Road;

Two construction zones on I-74 from just past Goodfield all the way to almost Carlock, both directions down to one lane. Plus, coming from Normal, another digital sign indicated more construction starting July 18;

Laying of more asphalt on I-74 from top of hill in East Peoria to almost Morton (but at least the work is done overnight)

Another digital sign on Rt 29 in North Pekin/MH area indicating road work to start on Thursday, July 26;

Knoxville construction continues for another 2 months or so?;

Wherever else there is construction going on in the greater Peoria area that I haven't mentioned here. Feel free to add, and see if you feel like this cartoon sometimes

Update: had to add this cool video.

One can almost never drive 55 across the Westbound Murray Baker bridge. I always am behind some fool who thinks it is a good idea to drive 10-15 miles under the speed limit.

We complain that the roads are bad, then we complain when they are fixing the bad roads.

This must be what makes America so GREAT.

Because of where I am usually headed, I often use Cedar Street Bridge. Sure beats trying to cross on the Murray Baker.

The bridge over the Illinois River are inspections...and very short term.
It's not like the work can be done from November to April in this part of the country. There are other routes available. I just avoid them...

All the complaining about road conditions over the winter on this site.....it's not like a new road can be dropped in overnight.

@Skimo : Which one, because there are currently 3 bridges over the river that currently have lane reductions (aka construction).

Yes, 2 of them are for bridge washing and/or inspections, but still a reduction. And couldn't they do the washing during the night? Just a thought.

As for the inspections...The eastbound McClugage bridge is in such bad shape that IDOT is doing monthly inspections including during the winter months. They've been monitoring one specific area very close and I hope construction starts before it fails.

When one complains about Illinois roads. Then they step up and try to fix them one still complains.

If they would fix them right the 1st time maybe we would have less to complain about PRIME example Knoxville in front of taco bell going southbound. They fixed it the day they open lane it was as bad as before repair and is getting worse by the day.

@EyeintheSky : Just for you to complain about. Everything is getting worse day by day.

@tntrecycling : NOPE just that section the road its pretty much exactly the way it was before they started. LOVE seeing the curbs getting fixed takes away the abandoned look to the area.

@kraziebill : McCluggage and Murray Baker.As far as washing at night, the labor prices go up dramatically(extra pay for union guys/gals), the extra cost of lighting , safety issues(drunks are out there ya know)and ya just can't see as well to see what the heck your doing.
