Morton had a business called "Unum Fine Wine and Whiskey Lounge" that recently closed. It was pretty popular and usually busy. Prior to closing permanently, they had a sign in the window saying they were temporarily closed due to staffing issues. There's a post about this on a local fb page with several comments. A lot of people are saying that Unum's staff was 'pilfered' or 'poached' by Black Band. I have no idea if it's true, but I've known people in the restaurant/bar business that get offers from other employers to come to work for them. Isn't it a somewhat common practice?

@skutfarcus :
From stories I have heard it is, There are also some chat rooms, websites etc. where the employees talk about this kind of thing and prospective employers hang out there too.
It might even be more common now especially considering staffing shortages.

@skutfarcus : For the amount of Chefs Unum went through, I wonder if that was the only problem. I hear this about Season, too. Owners who never have been in the restaurant business sometimes have unrealistic expectations which makes things difficult for employees.

But the grass is always greener. How many servers have I seen leave Schooners over the years and many seem to return.
