$.99 a pound

That's a really good price! I might be getting old, but I find it fun to find low prices in this economy. There is a low price grocery store in DFW that I shop at for basics called Joe V's Smart Shop (by H-E-B). It's super busy all the time, but the prices are incredibly cheap. Back in January, they were selling 2 loaves of bread for $1. A couple weeks ago they had oranges priced at 6 for $1. Last week, a 3 pound bag of yellow onions was 75 cents.I visited on my own the first time and the second time I went, I brought my roommate. When we were checking out, I was a bit thristy and looking in the coolers. I had to do a double take on the price of a bottle of water. It's not anything fancy, but still!

I have a small one in a brine (which has some pastrami seasoning in it) to make a ham, one's going to get turned into bratwurst today, and the third is in the freezer for future consideration. I noticed that Hy-Vee has them for $1.29 a pound and you don't have to cut a digital coupon. I may go back for more. Unless one doesn't eat pork, I don't know how you don't take advantage of this. And if you don't know how to cook it, I'm sure most people have a crock pot and internet access.

AntiRanchDrssng : Looked at the ones at HyVee. Thought about getting one cut in thirds. Wanted to BBQ some pulled pork. My cooking is always simple and had no idea what I would have done with the other two pieces. Decided against getting one.
