I was very surprised and impressed by his speech. Based on his history of speeches, I figured he'd talk about the Army's 250th for a couple minutes, then launch into usual talking points about Biden's failures, 2020 election fraud, whole city of LA burning down by paid protestors and rioters, millions coming in each day from tariffs, trillions of dollars being invested by corporations in New American factories, credit for reducing gas and egg prices,.etc., for an hour.
Instead, he only spoke for about 15 minutes, praising the Army and it's mission and accomplishments starting with General George Washington and the Revolutionary War, Civil War, WWII, and various battles from wars after that. It looks like he stuck to a script this time. Because of that, for this event, he earned my respect. Perhaps because the event was under a strict timetable, he wasn't allowed a longer speech, as the crowd then sang Happy Birthday to him.
Now, if only he did all his speeches like that, staying on topic, and keeping it shorter than 30 minutes. I can dream, can't I?
Also, we didn't see the whole parade, but I liked how various Army groups were dressed in period uniforms, such as Revolutionary War with drums and pipes playing, Civil War, and Calvary soldiers with a wagon pulled by a horse following.
My opinion and mine alone and no one else.
