I was pulled over the night of game 7 of the World Series. Cop walked up, I handed him my DL and insurance and I said "I'm sorry, I know I was speeding". He gave me a warning. It was at that moment I knew the Cubs would win.

Every motorist I stopped when I wore the badge had at a minimum a verbal warning coming. Some of those who would have stayed at that level of enforcement talked themselves up the scale. One talked herself into handcuffs. Sometimes people just don't know when to cut their losses and move on.

@AV8R All you gotta do is watch some youtube videos to see the STUPID side of how to respond to traffic stop.

I'm not a fan of this law.My previous car was light grey and had manual headlights. Knowing light grey was the most difficult to see on the road, I was in the habit of turning on my headlights whenever I drove.Now, I have a car with auto headlights. They turn on for darkness or when I turn the wipers on. What I've noticed this week (due to this thread)... if I start the car when it is raining or somewhat dark outside, I recognize my headlights are on, so I do nothing. While driving, if it stops raining enough to turn the wipers off, my lights turn off, too.
And it's not as easy as turning it on and off each time, because far left is "Auto"I suppose if this becomes a law, I'll have to buy the DRL module they made for the Canadian versions of my car.

Keeps me from forgetting to turn them on at dusk. Mine turn off after a few seconds when I turn the car off and come on automatically when I start the car. Set it & forget it!

@cjsummers I think they want the law to be lights always on because relying on human judgment to decide when it is "dusk" or when it is bad "enough" weather to turn them on is not a very good system. There are a lot of weather conditions between broad daylight and bad weather that could use headlights but people don't turn them on due to their own judgment. In a very gray, overcast day, a taupe or light gray car will not be very visible on a gray pavement like the interstate but isn't going to be considered bad weather. I know a couple of guys who drive semis and they say those neutral colored cars are the hardest to see when it ISN'T broad daylight.
