Past Presidents have gone out and campaigned during midterms, just not a heavy schedule like Donny's. Shows desperation on his part, IMO. Do a Google search on Midterm campaign stops by Obama, Bush and Clinton. But these guys made sure the main point of their appearances was to support, talk about the candidate(s) and why they should be elected. Donny probably talks about the candidate for 3 or 4 minutes, and the rest is about himself, how great a President he's been, how he's been persecuted, that all of America's problems belong to Biden, yada, yada, yada. He can't just speak for 30 minutes, he's got to talk for over 1.5 hours, and even rambling off on mysterious topics (Apparently he told one rally he could say something stupid, and they'd clap? And they did?)
The issue of using AF1 Main issue is it HAS to be used, not only for security of any POTUS, but it also becomes the "Flying White House", a War situation room, and more if an emergency happens.

When you have a job to do, people often fly to make travel quicker. Depending on your business, you might take several flights to keep everyone happy.

There is all kinds of screaming and yelling go on because of this stupidity and arrogance on Trumps part. The donors and others think the time would have been possibly spent better by going to states where the R had a fighting chance. Specifically, in the senate races MS and SC. But the R candidates are female, is that the reason he didn't go to SC and MS? Too late now as the party as now ceded the races to Ds.
