Peoria Police Chief jumps ship www.centralillinoisp roud.com/news/local- news/assistant-chief -brad-dixon/ Is he REALLY retiring or is he jumping ship before the department implodes? Time will tell I guess.

His background profile suggests he has 30 years of law enforcement experience (Elgin from '01 to '21). If he turned 50 with 20 years in, I think he hit his full pension?

@skutfarcus : Well nothing they will admit publicly of course, but seems some have some reliable inside info. I heard the chief was leaving late last year. I asked that person when and he said April/May. Coincidence? It's possible

He's probably tired of arresting people, having them set free, eventually getting a slap on the wrist only to do it again.

My dad started at Caterpillar at age 18, worked 32 years, retired in 1982. They had been asking him to retire a few years before that.
So, I have no doubt Eric is ready to retire, take it easy, and no outside force or reasons is making him retire. Shame, because I think he's done a great job at getting community aware and educated that police are not the enemy.
My opinion and mine alone and not my employer's

@AntiRanchDrssng :
That's been the case for many previous police chiefs.

A lot of times, retired chiefs will take a low pressure job with a small town.

Or can't do nothing at all. I watch the teen kick the side of the parents Truck the whole side. Yet nothing could be done.

Cam on watching what you have to say every action you take. Plus, the violence now you put one gang member behind bars now the rest has that officer in their focus. Today a - kid pulling triggers in schools. How many days would you want to wake up to it.
@skutfarcus :
Right. The Security Chief at Eureka College is a retired PPD chief.
