What issues does the Ppd have?

His background profile suggests he has 30 years of law enforcement experience (Elgin from '01 to '21). If he turned 50 with 20 years in, I think he hit his full pension?

Sounds like a planned retirement.

He's probably tired of arresting people, having them set free, eventually getting a slap on the wrist only to do it again.

My dad started at Caterpillar at age 18, worked 32 years, retired in 1982. They had been asking him to retire a few years before that.
So, I have no doubt Eric is ready to retire, take it easy, and no outside force or reasons is making him retire. Shame, because I think he's done a great job at getting community aware and educated that police are not the enemy.

That's been the case for many previous police chiefs.

@DennisinPeoria : That is the same as most cities across the United States, and usually the bigger the city, the bigger the problems.

A lot of times, retired chiefs will take a low pressure job with a small town.
