Sen. Schmitt has really been cozying up to JD Vance in recent months. There is a sense that he is doing that to become VP or AG.
Schmits staff told him that the quote was not verified and he used it anyway. By doing so, the feeling is, that he totally blew his his chances at either position..

You'd think his staff would have verified Smith's basketball attendance location before accusing him of perjury. And using that as an example of a perjury accusation is mind boggling.Just my opinion.
