Here's a first. I got kicked out of a Peoria Facebook group! The infraction? I replied to the admin's post that a group put on warning of suspension doesn't necessarily mean members were turning them in, but that Facebook has Bots that finds random infractions too.

I guess she had it in for me because she got all riled up when previously I contradicted her statement that the proposed concert venue at Northmoor was "your covid relief funds at work." It was a cute line, but it had no basis in fact.

Too bad the admin is a hothead, because it was my new favorite Peoria-centric page.

Yea, I've been put in time-out a few times on a particular FB page, but thankfully the admin hasn't kicked me out yet. Emoticon

There are a few local pages with moody moderators. I left one before I got the boot.

@PeoriaIllinoisan : which Facebook page was this? I'm curious, as the only local FB page I see posts on is "We are Peoria" (not associated with the local Peoria blog of same name).

@DennisinMH : Peoria, IL Community... I left We Are Peoria because it seemed more like a rant page for the admin than a community board and I got tired of reading it. I really enjoy reading East Bluff News, which seems to have a pulse on our community (though I don't comment much) and Memories of Peoria.

And Peoria.com of course! May I once again take this opportunity to say Thank You, Joe!

@PeoriaIllinoisan : Thanks for the comment about East Bluff News. It has been very time consuming and I am glad the control freak in me finally brought in some help to somewhat keep an even keel. Going private helped too. I'm also am so glad PDC is back!

Years ago I was kicked off the Freecycle site. We put up a non working tractor. Many replied and we told the first person they could have it. They said they were coming right away. We waited and waited. No show. I messaged and called. No response. So, we told the next person they could have it. They came right over. The first person contacted me when I posted that it was gone. They had a fit. They said that they had gone out to dinner, etc. Sorry, not sorry. If they had told me there would have been no problem. Anyway, it wound up that it was the site owners bf or relative. She said so and kicked me off the site. Hmmm, so now I can't give away things for free? ROFL.

@SAM1096 : Similar experience(s) with some stuff on Craigslist. That being said, we posted our old swing set / fort for free on CL and had a family on it within a few hours. I offered to help take it down, but the dad and his two sons were on it man. His kids were as excited as the day (weekend) my son and I originally built it.

I'm in that Peoria Community facebook group, and while I think the group is useful, I wish different people were in charge of it or that there was a different, similarly popular group. Most (all?) of the mods are strong conservatives, reacting with laugh emojis to news articles about COVID, etc. I've seen them boot people over political discussion in the group on occasion. The peoria subreddit is more my speed, but it's not nearly as busy.

I got kicked off a local FB Commitment Report page. I didn't read one of the several moderators constant whines, rants, and complaints and got the boot for suggesting they turn off comments. They claim it can't be done, but two other FB commitment report pages turn off comments. Oh, well. Maybe they aren't tech savvy enough to run a public FB page.

@Crispus : I posted something about Covid shots being available but they moderate everything and it was denied. The leader of the pack lives in Washington. One thing they don't moderate is any suggestion that you should live anywhere BUT in the city!

Can't do much but shrug your shoulders.
