Horseshoe sandwiches.
I had never eaten a horseshoe until almost 2 years ago. I found myself at the Dublin Pub in Springfield where they claim to have the original recipe from the Leland Hotel. I was pleasantly surprised. The cheese sauce was excellent. I've tried them at several other places since then and it seems like most just put some kind of generic nacho crap on them. Does anybody know where I can get a good one without driving to Springfield?

@skutfarcus : Richard's on Main used to have the best, but they closed recently.

@kraziebill :
I went there once. For someone with limited mobility, even the walk from the handicap parking spaces is tough.

@skutfarcus :
I have been to the Dublin Pub in Springfield a couple of times with my daughter & son-in-law. They are very good. I believe I had pony shoe at Obed & Isaacs, but again, it was in Springfield.

A couple of Peoria restaurants have it on their menu, especially a pub/grill. Just have to do research. But Springfield is the home of horseshoes, practically every restaurant has them.

Like I said; Iv'e tried them at several places (done research) but would like to find a good one without driving to Springfield. I'm too old to try every place in the immediate Peoria area. I was hoping someone might know of a place.

Do you remember the horseshoes they used to serve at the old Pere Marquette coffee shop that faced Main St.,way back in the day? A friend of ours in NC has the recipe. It is really good. It is some work but worth it. A few decades ago the recipe was printed in the Journal Star. That's where she got it. I can get it for you if you want.

Our Senior pictures gave us away! Numbers don't scare me. Before the end of next month, the interstate highway running through Peoria and I will have a number in common
