Halloween is here!

Seeing how this is falling on a Saturday with an extra hour, it's going to be wild night long after the trick or treaters have drifted off to sleep.

Yeah, bars and taverns get to stay open an extra hour. More chances for adults celebrating Halloween to get more "tricked or treated" with alcoholic drinks. I'll be asleep by 11:30 pm maybe.

Huh? Might change the clock Saturday, but Daylight Saving Time does not start until Sunday.

Three clocks downstairs have "fallen back", phone and computer say 7:31, so I know what time it is and the bedroom clock will be changed when I get up there. Since it is well after 7:00, is it safe to turn my porch light on? I haven't done All Hallows Eve in years.

I got zero kids again this year. I've lived in 4 places, 12 years, zero kids.

Maybe because they do a thing in the Common during the day. When I was further in the suburbs, we had tons of kids.

Seems like there has been a "trunk or treat" every afternoon or evening for the last week. Don't know if that has any impact on kids actually going out in the evening.

I stopped driving around midnight tonight. Even for me it overwhelming to see the bars spilling out into the streets like they were, from one side of town to the other. (Some were just randomly spilling into the streets; no bar needed!) While everyone was having the time of their lives, there was a pall hanging over the whole evening for me with the news that a boy was shot in the head. Who knows what else was happening, as I saw police of every persuasion all around different parts of the city. Poor guys. It's going to be a long night.

We only had about 78, compared to 123 last year. They seemed to come in bunches.

Also had quite a few high school age youth, some with just their hands held out. One boy had an empty soda can, and had the gall to ask me to take it for him! I said no thanks.
