Nothing good happens on Bryan Street. That wasn't in the freshman handbook?

On Oct. 6 at 4:00 p.m., a student contacted BUPD to report that they had just been robbed after attempting to buy something off of Facebook Marketplace.

He said that he went to Bryan Street to meet with the seller of a PC, but someone else was there.

The suspect asked the student if he had the money, and when the student said he did, the suspect threatened him into handing over the money before fleeing the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.

Nobody told the student that the lobby of the police station on Adams is available as a meeting place for such transactions. Common sense isn't always common.

The popo here in Springfield don't really have a good set up for meeting at the station. I just choose a very public place that I know has cameras. The HyVee gas station here in Springfield is my go to.

Also, I have heard, that some people go to the outside of the federal courthouse. Security cameras everywhere and even across Monroe St. at the library.
