This is probably the beginning of the end of his presidency and his self inflicted undoing. If not, the midterms will be and he knows it. In 2028 the republicans have 19' senate seats up, many in the same states where they have really close races in other races this year. In other words the gig is up and he might even realize it, He has been asking if he can pardon himself The answer is very murky and the courts will have to decide. However, J D Vance can and probably will.

At a minimum, the House Republicans have enough votes to withhold all Pentagon funding until Trump gets tough with Russia. Also, they have issued a final warning to Trump that Hegseth must go.

billybob : I feel like this is still token grandstanding. Trump has been flagrantly disregarding budget allocations since day one. They could act today... but they will not.

Won't do any good, he won't call the House back into session this close to the election. And Donny Boy will tell Johnson (and Thune if he makes a call) to basically F.O., he's the President, he has absolute power over everything including the other 2 branches.
My opinion and mine alone and not my employer's.

He is not calling them back insession.it is part of the agenda for the lame duck session. The Pentagon funding needs to pass. There will be lots of people who will have no loyalty to,Trump.

So one of the first agenda items up for debate will be enforcing the passed bill putting tighter sanctions on Russia, and repealing his deal for buying diesel?
I don't see it happening, the President will veto anything that comes across his desk against anything he determines to be law in his mind. He only cares for Congress if they pass bills benefitting the wealthy, or more funds for Defense that his family's subcontractor investments can tap in to.
My opinion and mine alone.

To have control, this government is finding there must be authority. The White House is run by many public figures, and even after they leave, they continue to wield influence. When will people understand there is life beyond Democrats or Republicans, free from their influence? We stand by and watch the corruption while the rich keep pocketing the money. Corrupt keep proceeding as they have.
