No Cubs Trip This Year Wife and I had an impromptu thought about driving to Cincinnati to watch the Cubs today. We would have stayed overnight, drove home Sunday. (But the $2600 expense of a new AC, plus extra $200 so installers could build a box to fit it in, since it was smaller than old one), we decided against the trip. We never made it to Wrigley, as wife had balance, dizziness issues most of year, had 2x a week therapy. And a knee cyst issue (all doing better) I didn't take any time of work either because of short staffing at times. (Plus I was off 1st 2 months of 2026 with wrist issue) I'm glad we didn't, because Cincinnati is 323 miles from MH. Double that number plus a few extra miles for hotel, restaurant drive. Encore gets about 28/29 mpg. Assuming gas was $3.79 even in some places in Indiana and Ohio, gas alone would have been about $90. Add in ticket prices, hotel, food, although I'm sure Reds tix are a lot cheaper than Cubs. Last time (other than COVID years) that we didn't make it to Wrigley Field for a game was...2016. The World Series Year. (We did do a tour of Wrigley, but Cubs were on the road).
DennisinPeoria : Sometimes we just have to be practical, I know it was about $160 for my round trip to Detroit area last month and my gas mileage is better than what you are getting.
RambleOn : Eh, I was underestimating the mileage a bit. I probably would have gotten 30/31 on the 4-lane highway, but that wouldn't have saved that much money.
