How much of a drought are we in? It's done nothing but rain since I got back from vaca and there's more on the way. A case of too much, too late? Same thing was going on out west. It rained like a sonoofa***** on scorched land. They needed it too, but there were flash flood warnings everywhere.

The update comes out tomorrow based on readings from yesterday. Last week's update had us as "Abnormally dry" with the outlook saying drought development likely.

Well, if crops respond as well as my lawn & the weeds in the garden, Jack will be climbing beans stalks pretty soon.

Despite the rain yesterday, I still managed to get my front yard mowed, finished it about 8:30 pm.

New update still has us as "Abnormally Dry"

It seems like the new normal, is abnormal.
My guess is that we'll be praying for rain in a few short weeks.

@kraziebill : What site are you pulling that from? I have my own PWS and logged 6.5" of rain this week and 17.5" for the year so far. NOAA's website seems clunky and is only giving me data from 1895 thru 2020, www.ncei.noaa.gov/ac cess/climateatlas/. I've also looked at droughtmonitor.unl.e du/, but I don't think it gives specific average rainfall comparisons to help say we are currently running a X" deficit.
