The Armory Building
According to the Journal Star, The Blickenstaff group has lowered the price on the old Armory Building to $200K.
For something that is four walls, no roof, the floor pretty much rotted through and water in the basement, that's a lot of money.
I'm not in the construction business, but to put up a whole new roofing structure and replace the floors on a building that size would make a $1M look small. And that wouldn't include anything else done to it.
People on FB have all sorts of great ideas for the building...homeless shelter, mental/drug rehabilitation, concert venue, indoor basketball court, the list goes on, but not how to pay for it or the rehab.
Maybe the city can buy it. They love ****** real estate deals.

Seriously, is anyone going to tackle this project? It's been vacant for what, 75 years?

@PeoriaIllinoisan :
I can't believe someone would buy this and put $10+ million in it to make it viable for something....especially in its location. Is it on the national registry of historic buildings? I guess I could look it up if I really cared to know.

Housing for the homeless, shower area to bath, wash clothing etc., place to get in out of the cold, also food provided to those who need.
State provides the funds use them.

4 walls and no roof.....let the homeless use it as an encampment. Out of sight out of mind.
I bet if the city let it happen, some group could have a gofundme to raise money for a couple port-a-johns with weekly clean out service

I was thinking about something for the homeless, also.

While it could be that, I understand it barely has a floor and the basement usually has standing water. That is a lawsuit waiting to happen.
