Peoria Heights Fire Dept falling apart....

So now the City Fire Dept will automatically respond to all Peoria Heights emergency calls.

If there is 1 thing that Peoria County can do as a whole is screw up interoperability. Police, Fire, events, it doesn't matter. These agencies just CANNOT work together the right way and it's going to get someone killed.....oh wait, that's already happened.

According to one PH city councilman, the Peoria fire chief made threats to those PH city council people who voted against Peoria taking over service.

Peoria Heights wanting to freeload fire service from Peoria. Peoria tax payers pay full fare for a full time fire service. The Heights pays far less for a 'volunteer' service. Not surprisingly, these volunteer services need additional assistance far more often than Peoria does. I don't think it is unreasonable to expect Peoria Heights, or any other community not paying for a full time fire service, to help shoulder the costs.

Maybe the Heights needs to step up and pay for a full time fire department and raise their property taxes accordingly.

Deflect Deflect Deflect again. What's happening in Peoria Heights has nothing to do with political parties.

Check this sample ballot from April, 2025. (Had to use screen shot from a PDF document.) Look at the candidates for Peoria Heights Mayor (he was unopposed), and the Trustees a little further down. Then tell me if a D or an R is seen under their name. If someone does, an optical eye appointment is badly needed.

My opinion and mine alone and definitely no one else.

Speaking of Peoria Heights issues, the Mayor spoke to WMBD today about having the PFD automatically help out with fires. It was an option that Interim Fire Chief Tony Ardis proposed as a way to cut response times. He was looking out to help those residents in need of fire responders or EMTs.

(Disclosure: I shot and edited this story, according to a reporter's script. Story also talked about adding a 1% grocery tax July 1, 2026. Info on fire department is down further)
