Glen Oak park train?

OK, my history friends. Does anyone know what size/gauge the train that was in the rear of Glen Oak park was? I'm looking for the one that was there back in the 80s

@kraziebill : Not sure on gauge, but it was probably the same as the one at Wildlife Prairie Park. Dave Harms of Steam Era Inc. ran the train at Glen Oak Park from July 18, 1984 until June 21, 1986. It ended due to an inability to acquire $1 million in liability insurance. The Peoria Journal Star ran this photo on July 6, 1984.

They have a new train that's itching to get used. I don't know what they're going to do with it exactly, but they have stops with shelters and benches around the loop.

@PeoriaIllinoisan : Trackless train?

@bn13814 : Yes, trackless. Primarily to be used for special events at Glen Oak park. I think it should be used all the time, along with opening up an ice cream shop in the old monkey house between the lagoon and the children's museum. The train was privately paid for, so we can't complain too much I suppose.

They should have an airplane-shaped vehicle that drives around, too, so it can feel like flying.

@PeoriaChronicle : Like I said, it was a donated, by someone who remembered riding the Glen Oak train when they were young. If you'd like to donate an air simulator, I'm sure they'd be open to discussing that with you, ha ha.
