Congressional Hypocrisy
A new Democratic House representative was elected from Arizona is a special election from about 2 weeks ago. She takes over from her dad, who passed away.
The issue: Speaker Johnson refuses to swear her in, even though tradition is newly elected representatives, especially from special elections, get sworn in right away.
Johnson wants to wait until the full Congress reconvenes, perhaps Tuesday or Wednesday this week. He wouldn't do it last week because Congress was in a 'pro forma' session, and can't do swearing-ins then.
Hypocrisy? Raul Grijalva, the new Democrat, noted that Florida Republicans were sworn in during a pro forma session earlier this year, on April 2, the day after their special elections. The House had been in session the day before.
One reason suspected for the delay, is she would be the 218th and last lawmaker needed to sign the petition to force a vote on releasing the Epstein files, to the floor of The House. A petition that MGT and other Republicans have also pushed for. Go figure that one out.
@Billybob, if any of this is incorrect, please correct me. Thank you.
