ICE raids today

About a week ago, there where extremely hushed whispers around that ICE might, possibly start looking into school districts around the country that were suspicious. It was all very, vey, very vague but did seem somewhat aspirational in tone. The rumors lasted for only a day or so.
Today, ICE arrested the Supt.of Des Moines Public School for being in the US on an expired visa. It expired and he long had an order for removal from the US. It goes without saying that in Des Moines there is a massive uproar about how the school board was not aware of the situation. There are some reports that he did not even have authorization to work in the US.

Jackie Norris, the president of the Des Moines School Board, recently announced that she was going to run for the Democratic nomination for the US senator from Iowa in the 2026 election. She is also a former chief of staff for Michele Obama.
Her husband had/has a high UN job and is/was posted to the US Embassy in Rome, Italy.

DHS reveals federal gun charges against Ian Roberts, the Left's new patron Saint. They also revealed the man's criminal history, going back decades and including drug trafficking and weapons charges.

The Des Moines school district is understandably suing the consulting firm that chose Roberts, who apparently thought an armed drug trafficker was the perfect choice to work around children.

@ProfessorPlum :
Apparently, a third background check was done after he was interviewed, and before he was hired. It was done to make sure everything was fine. A standing procedure for high level jobs. Unclear, if the recruiting firm hired someone to do it or if the school board hired someone directly. The fee that the board paid the firm struck me as being a bit low for a position such as that.
In any event, the firm that is being sued is fairly new in the business compared to other firms. Especially, Isaacson Miller who is the gold standard in executive recruitment.
I know someone who was recruited by Isaacson Miller. I was a reference. They called me and we spoke for over an hour. Extremely thorough checking. He ended up getting the job.

Oh, I'm sure they do a great job 99.9% of the time. But it's pretty clear that somebody, somewhere dropped the ball big time with this guy.

Which leads me to wonder how the Left and the media choose who to champion when it comes to putting a public face to the ICE raids; so far we have a human trafficker who beats up his wife and now a (hopefully) former drug dealer with a house full of guns. Those two really just underscore why the raids are necessary in the first place.

A WMBD anchor and I interviewed (for end of Hispanic Heritage month) a lady that crochets blankets and hats, and gives them away to new moms, or moms to be. She has a Hispanic name, but you wouldn't know it, as her English is impeccable. No accent at all. She and her husband are US Citizens.
As we talked off camera, she talked about that her husband and her usually take a trip to Mexico for vacation. Not this year, because they're afraid of being detained at the border by ICE, even if they have all their documents. She also indicated some US citizen Hispanic friends did go to Mexico, and encountered being stopped, questioned, detained coming back over the border. Other friends are also afraid of going.

Now, doesn't that sound like Nazi Germany with Hitler's Gestapo, stopping people even in the Germany borders, asking for "Ihre Papiere, bitte"
"Your papers, Please"

My opinion and mine alone and not my employer's.
