Music you first heard.

Don't know if it was the first but certainly do remember Patti Page "How Much Is That Doggie In The Window" it became a theme song, of a sorts, when we got our first family dog. . Think I probably first heard it when she sang it on "The Dinah Shore Show"
Decades later, while traveling for work, Patti Page was still doing concerts and she was appearing across the street from the hotel. When she sang it, the ovation was so loud and sustained she sang it twice. So, I guess it resonated with lots and lots of people.

My mother always had WWCT 106 on, so I grew up with that during my formative years.

Elvis. My parents were big Elvis fans, so heard him a lot while growing up. I only heard "modern" music (at the time--mid to late 70s) from my older brother.

Edit: I know Elvis was still singing new songs on the radio up till he died in 1977, but my parents mostly listened to older (50s-60s) hits. They also liked the songs from American Graffiti. As for what I remember listening to from my brother: Osmonds, Billy Joel, Gary Numan, etc.

1969 changed things. Plus being older started mowing lawns for the neighbors. Older kids listen to a wide range of music. Potters had 17 children, and they played music in the garage. Steve miller band, John Denver, Waylon, Head East, Ian Hunter,

I started mowing lawns, shoveling snow and raking leaves in the early 60s, Heard all kinds of music in the background. Very, very diverse. Also, had a very eccentric customer, She would play music and think she was talking to all ships at sea. Realized later she was a hard core alcoholic, Drank her brandy right out of the bottle. One song she played over and over countless times was " Beans In My Ears" sung by the Serendipity Singers.

Eating breakfast before going to elementary school, my mom always had WXCL 1350 radio on playing country music from the likes of Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Lynn Anderson, some bluegrass, and many others. I guess the one country song I recall mostly is "Your Cheatin' Heart" by Hank Williams.

@PeoriaIllinoisan : I heard it as a kid because it was on the K-Tel record "Dumb Ditties" with other unique numbers, like "I'm a Nut" (Leroy Pullins):
