More 1sts!! A Woodruff Career and Technical Center Culinary Arts student just won 1st place in the Illinois Skills USA baking competition. The student now moves on to Atlanta for the national championship. The student also was part of the team that took 2nd place in state for the Illinois Restaurant Association Pro Start competition back in March. Now when is the parade? A two student team won first place for a Community Service Project. They worked with Head Start to teach "the littles" (what we call their kindergarten aged students) how to make some simple food items at home. Now when is the parade? Another student place second for front of house services. Now when is the parade? Another student placed third in the culinary competition. Richwoods got at parade for 3rd place, so..... Most of these competitions required them to take a job specific written test to qualify for the competition. Regardless of the parade they won't get (maybe recognition at the next school board meeting), these students kicked some butt and I'm proud of them!!
Please let the students know that we who are regular visitors at Warrior Way Cafe are very proud of them! Looking forward to visiting the cafe again next school year.
Here's a thought....Have the students prepare a meal and then pull the fire alarm. When all the first responders show up, feed them and share their successes.
Has to be some kind of a hot dish to keep the whole fire theme going.
