To Whom it may concern:
Theres no reason to hide my feelings toward your program. I have the qualifications that youre looking for and Id be making the transition with the excitement and enthusiasm a beat writer position deserves.
I graduated in May 2007 from Eastern Illinois University with a degree in Journalism and a minor in Political Science after graduating high school in Oconomowoc, WI. While I understand that you are looking for a reporter with experience at a daily publication, I worked for four years at the smallest daily student paper in the country, reported for the nationally recognized college basketball website Bracketography.com, recently completed a 6-month sports internship with a high school beat at the 73rd largest paper in the country (The Birmingham News), worked as a freelance writer for the Waukesha Freeman and currently work as the Mississippi State beat writer for the Starkville Daily News.
As the beat writer for the Mississippi State University program in the Southeastern Conference, Ive covered a full mens basketball season that included year-long coverage of the amateurism case between the NCAA, MSU and freshman McDonalds All-American forward Renardo Sidney. The fall of 2010 was the start of my first MSU football season of daily coverage. Ive covered a national search for an athletic director, which started in March 2010. On a daily basis (sometimes 3-4 times a day), my beat requires I maintain a newsworthy online blog titled The Dispatch MSU Sports Blog and a Twitter account at http://twitter.com/****c****. I also spent the first two months at the Starkville Daily News was as a primary preps reporter where I was responsible for game and features coverage of seven high schools in the local area and now at the Commercial Dispatch I continue to helps the preps desk periodically.
While at The Birmingham News, I was specifically involved in covering Hoover High School (yes, the MTV Two-A-Days school), the Alabama High Sch
