Press release:

Illinois American Water Company (IAWCO) announced today that it will perform needed repairs to the water mains that run below city streets at the intersection of Wast Main Street and North University. These maintenance repairs will take an estimated six weeks and will necessitate the closure of the entire intersection of West Main and North University for most, of not all of that time.

Traffic will be diverted. West bound traffic on Main will be diverted north onto Bourland then west on Columbia Terrace across North University into the Uplands neighborhood, then south on Parkside onto Western Avenue/Farmington Road.

During the six-week-long closure, the City of Peoria will reconstruct the entire intersection into a roundabout, eliminating the need fr traffic lighting. Much of the Campustown Shopping Center corner of that intersection will be used to construct the roundabout, however. About 12 parking spaces will be lost.

April Fools.

The 1st rule of an April Fool is that it be plausible. Given the cluelessness of the City, that was.
