4th of July events in the Peoria area By Thomas Bruch Journal Star entertainment reporter With the Fourth of July holiday falling on a Tuesday this year, the celebrations kick off early this weekend. If you’re looking for the bedrock of any Independence Day celebration — fireworks and food — check out some of the local events listed below:
And don't miss the yearly brawl that breaks out at Prospect and Forrest Hill after the fireworks!! More red and blue lights everywhere with at least 4 squad cars!!
There is also a fireworks show at Three Sisters Park on the southern edge of Chillicothe on the 4th. The show starts at 9:00, but the gates open at 1:00. There will be vendors and bouncy houses all day.
Folks come to Marquette Heights, park at Dollar General, grass, or Marquette elementary school lot. This year, the school's Parent club is asking for a $5 donation to park at the school, as a fund raiser. I live just down the street from where they block off traffic to the area, so I can just walk to it.
