Can't remember the name of that restaurant in Chillicothe in the old bank. Been there a numbe of tmes for lunch and th food was always very, very good. I don't know that we ever had the same thing twice as we always wanted to try something new.

The Chef and The Baker was very good too. Again, never had the same thing twice.

Spotted Cow: Cheese Burger, fries and large chocolate malt.

Meeting Frank was as much a reason to go there as the food! Hope the new owner has a good run with it.

@billybob:
I think you're talking about Happy Thought Coffee in Chillicothe. Yes, the food is good there.
I haven't tried The Chef and the Baker yet. I've heard lots of good things about it.

@S.A.Shepler:
I keep forgetting about Spotted Cow as a lunch option. LOVE the ice cream there, though. I do wish the new owners well, but I can't imagine the place without Frank!

When I worked downtown my favorite place was Darlings Downtown and I loved their chicken salad and fries but they have closed. They do have another place called Darling's Dine and Draft in the Heights and I need to get there again soon.

Kutchies on the River...good bar food...river life..and some of the best music...no commercials...I think they use Pandora or something like that..always have 60/70 music going...My favorite thing there is the Seafood Quesadilla...that thing is out of this world...but ..they only serve it during the winter months...so guess I better go get one before they change over to their summer menu....

We used to go to Kelleher's pretty often. Then, about 4 years ago, we had several disappointing meals there. Friends agreed that the food (and service) had gone downhill. If those issues have been addressed, we'll give it a try again. I'm unfamiliar with the "hot pot", though. What is that?

We have several usual places that we go to lunch.

I go to June Bug's on meadows a lot for lunch and usually order breakfast.
A half of a haystack. (And sometimes I go there for breakfast on the weekends.)

We always went to TNT's in east peoria on Wednesdays for livers and gizzards, but the manager/cook recently passed away, :-( and they have closed the food service portion of the business until they reorganize. They are keeping the bar open for now. But I've heard them mention "remodeling" which is always a scary word in the restaurant world.

We go to Lorena's regularly. I usually get the lunch fajitas. Hubs usually gets tamales.

And then toss in the occasional visit to Jason's Deli for salad bar, Super Gyros for an Italian beef sandwich (Hubs gets the polish sausage or a Chicago dog), or Moe's for fish tacos and that about covers our regular lunch spots.

We now have something new called the Mesa chicken salad that is prepared on the line. Grilled, 100% antibiotic-free chicken breast, mixed salad greens, cheddar, grape tomatoes, chopped avocado, roasted corn and black bean mix, served with NEW jalepeƱo ranch dressing.

Since I usually work until 2 pm or 6 pm at Jason's, I don't get to do lunch time stops. But even after 2 pm, if I have a craving, I'll head to Haddad's for a Gyro delight. Based on another thread, I need to try Fedora's sometime.
