Assuming the taxpayers don't get screwed in the deal (yes, a big assumption), this looks like a win-win for those who want to have riverfront park land. They're getting more of it with more access to the river.

How do you figure? I can't remember the exact figure but I think this also involves hundreds of thousands of dollars of infrastructure improvements paid for by yours truly - the taxpayers. Why should the taxpayers pay to improve this mans land? Let's ask them. Let's ask them if they would rather improve the new buyers land FOR HIM, or, use it to improve the public streets we drive on every day. Here's a better suggestion for a win/win. He finds a private piece of property to buy - pays for it all himself, and we'll keep our Riverfront Park thank you. Now there's a win/win.
