Mango Fondue

It has been brought to my attention that Mango Fondue is temporarily closed. It is due to reopen on September 24. How long has it been temporarily closed? Sometimes you hear of places closing temporarily and they never seem to reopen. Is this going to be one of those cases or will it really reopen?

Ask the health department. Restaurants don't close voluntarily unless they're going belly up.

I know they were renovating the bar side while the restaurant was open. The Friday night jazz they had there was cancelled because of it. Now what has happened since then, I don't know. I never heard a plan to revamp the restaurant side, but that doesn't mean anything.

A long hard search found that they decided to close during renovations and will reopen in 2 months. It's on their fb page.

The owner (I believe) is the same guy that wants to buy the old school on Moss to make it into a buddhist? temple.

Hopefully, this is true. Really enjoyed the food and service there. Plus, they were great hosts for Friday night jazz.

They really need to step up their advertising and social presence since their location leaves a lot to be desired. Red Roof has so much crime reported now that even parking your car over there for a few hours feels iffy. They had a blog they slowly stopped updating and their facebook page went from Feb to May without a single post. If you want to make fondue "cool" again with a younger crowd, you have to appeal to them. Instagram, Twitter, FB, every single day. Not just sitting over in a hard to get to location waiting for the money to pour in.

I imagine they will be re-opening with an entirely new staff as you can't ask servers to just not work for 2 months and wait for them. With the way the parking lot looks every night, I can't imagine how they have funds to pay their bills and renovate without any revenue coming in. Good luck to them and to the next company that follows them.
