Good. Give me more time to procrastinate to go get some new Arizona jeans. Sad, though. Have bought a lot of stuff at Penney's over the years.

Glad to see that the Peoria store is remains open. At an earlier point in time they closed some stores in Central and Southern Illinois. They might be trying to consolidate that business at one store much like Sears did, It was a strategy that worked for quite awhile. Hopefully works for Penney's too.

I hope that JCPenney's can hang on until something fills that spot at Sears. I'm still amazed that the old Macy's/Famous Barr area got filled.

@ChefKevin : I usually have to order jeans for me thru JCPs website, as they don't carry my size in the store. But I just saw on the news that FedEx and UPS are raising their prices or adding surcharges.

The reason our JC Penny is staying open is because there is still hope it will be looted and the insurance will pay out huge right before they pull out.

@DennisinMH : JC Penny's used have free, or very discounted, in store pick up on catalog orders. Basically they'd add your order to their normal shipment to the store. I haven't checked on this in a number of years though.

I wish we would get another department store. There are still department stores out there. Dillard's. Belk. Von Maur.

@cjsummers : Von Maur is only 45 minutes away...and they are open.

I think most places look at the crime that's taking place in the city`s. I know I wouldn't want deal with stealing everyday. When we had the second hand store by the police station it was bad enough.

So my prediction for Northwoods Mall; the large stores , Sears, JcPenny, Macy's will be turned into residential units.
The small stores will be necessity shops like grocery stores and clothing shops, with a mixture of restaurants, coffee shops, fitness centers, computer sales and repair Shops, and a gaming center where internet based gaming will take place.
The indoor center court will be converted to green space with a pool and park setting. Some of the parking areas will also be converted to outdoor park with basketball, tennis courts, playground and dog parks, maybe soccer and football and baseball fields. With a huge fence all the way around the entire complex.
The residents will be part of some kind of socialist commune where you'll be able to do anything you want without fear of government or police interference. However, no outsiders will be allowed.
