AverageSue : My oldest son Ryan was one of the first special education students for the Special Education Association Peoria County (SEAPCO). So, at the age of 3.5, they set up a teacher for him at the Hanna City Grade School, and within 2 months, they had 4 more students. We lived in Farmington at the time, so, they set up a driver to take him and the other students to the school in Hanna City. Then, they broadened the classes for more people needing that special education into the Oak Grove schools in the Bartonville area where my son went to school for a few years. Thank goodness for all of the help we had back then.
@pictureme2 : I have a son who received OT, PT, speech, and two itinerant teachers: TVI and O&M. His main disability is low vision (legally blind)
And I have been in PWD circles for almost 25 years. It's very expensive. Today, he's college educated, and paying taxes.
