Coronavirus vaccine likely to last "months" or best case not likely more than a year, according to Dr. Anthony Fauci.

So how long do we stay locked down now? What do we do when the feared "second wave" comes around? Repeat the mistakes we made during the first wave?

Question from someone who does not know much about medicine or vaccines beyond following the instructions on my little bottle of pills from Walgreens:

Let's say somehow, through some sort of theoretical distribution channel, everyone in impacted areas was given a vaccine, and it did last for one year. Since the incubation period is said to be 14 days, wouldn't that cause the virus to simply die off? Or is that not how it works?

I guess that would be assuming 100% compliance with the vaccine. That will never happen. I bet we're lucky to get over 40% compliance with it when it comes out. I guess if it's good for a year it's not much different than the flu vaccine. Which makes sense, since Covid isn't really that much different than the flu if we're being honest about it.
