Is it no wonder that the Civic Center can't turn a profit.
From the PJS.
MISERY INDEX: Rivermen fans were not happy with the concession stand lines that confronted them on Saturday at the team's Opening Night game in Carver Arena.
The chaos was artificially created when the Civic Center opened only one concession stand and beer kiosk for an event that drew 5,321.
The Rivermen took hits on the customer service front, for something that was not of their doing.
Whether the Civic Center was short-staffed, didn't communicate with the team about the size of the crowd expected -- whatever -- it was a bad look for the building.
Some fans said they waited in line an hour to buy sodas. Saw a family with kids crying because they waited, and waited, and never did get any food.
That debacle cost the team and the Civic Center concessions money. Quite frankly, the Civic Center, in my opinion, owes the Rivermen team and Rivermen fans an apology. And the building needs to do something to make it right at a future game.
