Another living while Black issue

Take a look at this. Would the cops have treated these guys the same if they were white, but still mouthed off the same? A Black Realtor was showing off a house to a potential Black buyer in a predominately white neighborhood. A former cop saw them going in, called cops thinking they were 2 black guys breaking into the house. I realized these 2 black guys could have been more 'courteous', but to be handcuffed without being able to show ID or his business card first?

Why assume? Earlier this year I overheard "no white boy made these ribs". If I were any more white I'd look like Casper.

Just common courtesy is no longer a fact. Police was doing a job. Problem came from ones running their mouths. Give proper info and all would of went well.

It sounds like it was "settled" without a rendered verdict. Without knowing the whole story, the police responded to a burglary in progress. Do you really expect them not to respond or get killed during the wait and hope they're not bad guys?
Put yourself in that position...what if you're driving to your relatives house, as you approach you see an unknown vehicle and people in the home you don't know or recognize. If you don't think to question who they are, then you're oblivious to what's going on in the world. And if you called the police, would you want some verification of who they are and what they're doing, even if it's harmless?
This was a way to appease people to quell the issue of police questioning based on race.

@starbound64 : I'm going to have to disagree on this one.
According to Shrive, dash-and-body cameras show the 911 caller, who claimed he was armed with a gun, hovering around the scene. "This was an attempt to intimidate an African-American man from buying a home in a white neighborhood," Shrive tells Yahoo Lifestyle. "And it worked, as the caller was delighted with himself. Mission accomplished."

The comments section gets more heated:

Funny how the caller is a "retired" cop who stated that a home front door was forced open. Cops get there, no sign of any forced entry to the door. Cop told the guy to "stop playing the race card" and assumed they got some hardcore criminals. Cops demanded that one of them show proof of any business cards, thinking he wouldn't have any. He did, than cops wanted ID, hoping the name and business card wouldn't match. It did, than he they wanted to see the "key to the house", well the guys said yes, he has the keys.

"According to Isham's attorney Brian Shrive, after the men entered using a key from a lockbox, nine police officers appeared outside and demanded the men step outside with their hands up."
- It took 9 police officers to investigate 2 people at a house showing...The white neighbor, former police officer, should have to pay the entire settlement.

I guess people don't understand that officers come as needed. I often wondered why 10 officers would show up for me.

Oh please. I don't care if you're albino. If I see two unknown (men?) DRESSED LIKE THAT, going in to my neighbor's house, I'm calling the cops.

@mypeez : I don't disagree, but the police can't sort things out until after the fact. They respond based on the complaint. The caller should have been arrested for false report. I don't fault the police for their response.
This is akin to the armed robbery suspects from a couple years ago on the East Bluff. The police were looking for the suspects around Glen Oak School and found 3 people matching the description on the nearby benches. The police had guns drawn at some point. The people turned out not to be involved and claimed they were harassed and victims of profiling.
Anyone who knows they area, knows the crime rate and gun violence in that neighborhood. Can you blame the police for taking precautions and investigating the crime? We don't pay police to get shot and killed but we do pay them to investigate crimes and keep the peace.
We see what happens when we don't deal with offenders, ie the 14 year old who killed the 16 year old recently on Frye. He was on probation for the armed robbery of another person earlier in the year. Which was a violent attack not just display of a gun.
