I was told the rent on this place is not cheap. Keeping cost down is hard to do today. You have to sell a lot of ice-cream and shakes to make it.

I just saw the article in the paper, it was only open from May-January? The paper says the Halsey's were busy with their other location but doesn't it close down for 6 months of the year? Maybe the location is to blame if even a chain Sonic couldn't make it there.

Before I retired, we had a guy at my place of employment who would take hot dog and chili dog orders for staff from Emo's on their first day of reopening each year.

Cummins is keeping their current dine-in place near Office Max in EP. That location also serves breakfast, where the former Lou's/Sonic site will probably be open for lunch/dinner only.

PJS had article about it today.

@craftywoman :

The couple is establishing a carry-out and drive-through restaurant at 245 Farmdale Road in East Peoria. Until the end of January, it was the site of the East Peoria branch of Lou's Drive-In, a Peoria summertime staple.

I think it will be interesting to see if this place can stand out and make a come back. I will be getting a few tenderloins from it.
