Can't stand a poorly designed product .

I have a toro self propelled mower that was given to me. It has already broken the drive belt twice do to lazy design. It catches a little piece of debris on the pulley above the blade and the guard around pulley traps belt and burns through belt in seconds. Not sure if I want to go to the 45 minutes tear down to swap belt. Yes you pretty much have to disassemble it just to change belt. Plus 20 bucks for belt to boot. Thinking about just going back to my weenie powered electric mower. Its only draw back is cord and all the kids toys don't get along.

Its a shame the toro is a really nice mower electric start adjustable walking speed he literally bought it for his 80 year old mother. She didn't like it because it went to fast and only used it a couple time before moving into nursing home.

Yes her 66 year old son gave it to me said his son who just bought a house didn't want it and it had been sitting in garage for 2 years. I think it just doesn't like mowing my 1/4 acre city yard.

Sure it has nothing to do with the operator. Your not taking your meds and then driving are you.

Eye, let me know if you need me to attack that belt for you. I got a wrench or two somewhere.

Got a 21 year old Sears lawn mower. Changed the oil twice. I abuse it to no end. It runs a like a champ. I dread the day I have to buy a new one.

I have a Toro self propelled mower and I like it. I have not had the belt problem that you described... I've had this mower a few years.

the speed is adjustable... you can adjust a screw on the cable between the push bar on the handle.

I did have a wheel come loose... that was easy to fix...but i think the nut there should be different.

@joepyeweed The speed doesn't bother me its actually nice when going little inclines just push handle in a little more and right on up. It was a little piece of tree branch about size of pencil. Will most likely fix it may be off the hook till spring for back yard which is the main job for it.

@joepyeweed Like I said would be so bad if didn't have to tear the thing most of the way apart to change the weakest link in the design. Think this time will order 2 belts since it takes a week to get one.

Fliginger's in Morton probably keeps them in stock.

I've picked up blades there. I beat up the blades pretty good in my yard - I've got lots of acorns, hickory nuts, and little sticks that are hard on mower blades. I usually have the blade set very high, which avoids most conflicts, but picking up a nut is inevitable eventually. And I've got the chute closed for mulching, so when a nut gets picked up in bangs around inside the mower before it drops.
