Komatsu & Joy Global.

Komatsu is buying Joy Global, 2.9 Billion, all cash. They both make mining equipment... Komatsu has a large plant here in Peoria.

Good move or bad...? We will see but they are not buying Joy Global at the top of the market like when Cat bought Bucyrus.

This could be indicative of a bottoming of the mining market.

I think it is close to the bottom but unclear if it is the bottom. CAT announces 2Q earnings before the market opens Tuesday. It will be interesting to see what guidance they offer going forward.

What they gave up the profit on a couple of the trucks .LOL That is some VERY serious cash to the throwing around. One way to get rid of competitor.

@EyeintheSky :

Not sure what you mean there. Komatsu's purchase of Joy Global is designed to add equipment offerings to its portfolio, much like Caterpillar's purchase of Bucyrus back in 2011.

@bwiser

To help quiet the storm a bit, earlier this year, the board said they would like to raise the dividend. They already have a payout ratio of 89%. The one year anniversary passed since the last dividend raise and that is the time most cos, raise their dividend. Still no word when or how much they will raise the dividend. To be continued.......... to see if pressure does mount on the board for change.
