Political Discussions at work?

So a heated discussion broke out this morning directly in front of my desk involving 3 like minded employees who were all very upset about trans-gendered people's bathroom habits while quoting a bunch of completely made up stories and then one of them even brought up a single event that happened 2 years ago involving a branch of the ROTC wearing high heels on a college campus to support women's rights. It was immensely frustrating although I managed to stay completely silent ! I have never brought up any of my insanely liberal political viewpoints and will be letting them know if it happens again that they need to take that into an office with a door they can close! Or join this message board! :D Anyone else have to suffer through political discussions at work without resorting to a shouting match?

I work with someone who LOUDLY lets the person next to him know where he stands on everything politically.

Religion and politics.....2 subjects I don't discuss at work.

Well I already have to put up with prayers before meetings and mandatory viewings of pro-life propaganda so adding politics is too much!! I especially love watching the Muslim and Hindu employees during the praying to Jesus.

It's OSF! Soon to be the largest employer in Peoria once CAT gets done with their nonstop layoffs.

I once, during an interview, had the hiring boss stop to tell me how religious he was and how those are the same values he wants his company to represent. I am an honest person, so told him very politely that I have no problem with his beliefs but that it's not what I believe. I never did hear back from him...

Also worked at OSF for several years. I still cannot believe they can refuse to hire someone that has nicotine in their system. How is that not discrimination?

One time in the lobby of the Marriott Courtyard downtown, right after it opened, we saw a group of employees standing in a circle holding hands and praying out loud. Another employee was reading aloud from the Bible. In the mean time guests and vendors were coming and going.

Never did find out if it was voluntary or mandatory but still...................

I hope they were praying for forgiveness for having taken so much of Peoria taxpayers' money to build the place.

Awesome.

But at least they are "non profit". That balances it out.

Single stall restrooms fixes everything. 1 stall toilet, sink, door what more do you need.

It's OSF!

@lanestar7 :

What is their employee policy towards hostile work environments?

Discussions like you describe could land someone in hot water or create legal problems for employers.
