I haven't been to that location since they bought Emos. I have always liked the N Adams location too. They do have some really great things. It is that time of year.

When I used to work at the IVY Club, we would rush out after lunch and get the chili cheese polish sausage with onions and jalapenos. Early dinner diners probably received their food fairly slow as we were usually bloated and not moving well.

I now go to Emos only. Does anyone know if they have different menus?

The menus are combined and mostly the same except Emo's still has their coney sauce and Ice Cream Shack has theirs. One has coke products, the other has pepsi. They offer paper menus that show you what's where. Emoticon

I do think its one of the best chili dogs in town.
My hubby likes the tamales there.

@Whit
I think there is a Velvet Freeze in EP. It is in a shopping center with a Big Lots and Taco John's.

@jannn1959 :

The Chinese restaurant in that strip mall has good food. (I would have put it on the hole in the wall thread, but I can never remember the name of it...)

Are you sure? I chased down a couple of rumors about Velvet Freeze in EP to no avail. Unless this is a recent opening.

Long story short is that there is a place on Prospect in the Heights, behind the Subway, that has a meat sauce that is very, very close to the old Velvet Freeze hot dog. The owner of the new place worked and worked through trial and much error on a meat sauce to try and get it as close to the old Velvet Freeze recipe. How he did it I dont know and we will never know. But it gets really busy in there with customers looking for something like the old Velvet Freeze hot dog.

The place in the heights is called The Other Dawg. Although their chilli dog meat is close to VF, it's still not as good IMO

@billybob Its called Wonder Dog its in East Peoria Fondulac Shopping Center. They use the meat sauce from Velvet freeze. You can buy the Meat sauce from Winkler Meats.
