From News 25: A possible crime scene at Constitution Garden on the Peoria riverfront. ‪#‎ScannerTraffic‬ indicated a man lying face down with a bloody rock nearby. We will bring you the latest as news develops.UPDATE: The coroner was called to the scene. A male body was found about 10 feet off a trail near the river shore. Police would not speculate as to the cause of death.UPDATE: The coroner said a 26-year-old male was dead at the Constitution Garden. He was identified by fingerprints. The identity is not being released pending family notification. The coroner said there are signs of injury on the body. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.

Some Chicago radio stations have been reporting that a dead man was found along the banks of the river down there.Why is it that WMAQ, WBBM and sometimes WGN are first to report some things from Central Illinois?

Usually every day I walk down there. Kind of glad but at a lost to. Never know what could happen to some one today.

@billybob The info has been on the JS and WEEK and WMBD facebook pages for a few hours, they don't update their news sites nearly as often as their facebook pages.

WOW another great selling point for the apartments/condos they want to build down there.

@ChefKevin :The city will say that is why the apartments must be built so the area can be cleaned up and made safer. Just saying.

I have never like the idea of living on top or under some one. The thought of another 200 plus people here in this area is not what it needs. Build a grocery store leave the park alone.

@tntrecycling :I'm opposed to the apartments but yours statement makes no sense; what's wrong with more people living in the downtown area and who is going to build a grocery store if no-one lives there?

@PeoriaIllinoisan The downtown Catch 22. No one will build retail down there because there are no people. People will not move down there because there is no retail.

The body has been identified as Justin Marx, 26. He had been staying at a Salvation Army shelter.
