Property transactions - those listed Sunday show our City Treasurer selling a property on Pecan (wharehouse district?) for almost $300,000. Too bad they don't print what was paid. At least a few folks are making bank on backs of taxpayers.

I thought the exact same thing. I'd like to know who bought. Time to Google.

It should be recorded at the Peoria County Recorders office.

I wasn't aware that the city owned any properties in the warehouse district that might have been dispensed with through private sale?

Could you elaborate?

As far as I know, the city performed streets cape improvements, which is an ordinary task for the city to engage in and hardly constitutes 'profiting off the backs of taxpayers'.

If those streetscape improvements result in higher property values then it is all good. Those property owners pay property taxes.

@EyeintheSky

It used to be all along that stretch, but the bar across the street from the old police station was a hot spot ( Bell Tap? )

@Whit In my youth (60s-70s), the Slipper Club and the Big 500 were reputed to be hot spots for prostitution. I remember we used to drive past and peer at them, hoping to see some shady behavior.
