Inauguration
Things are looking up as far as entertainment goes. They just booked the B Street Band. America's number one Springsteen cover band. And Marie Osmond has volunteered. No word on if she's been taken up on her offer. This is along with the Rockettes and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Oh, and some girl from a talent show.

Even with that it isn't all rosy. One of the members of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir quit the choir rather than sing for Trump.

A couple of the Rockettes voiced displeasure about it and they are excused and will not be performing.

@leslie110
Also the number of buses for the 2016 inauguration is way below both the 2008 and 2012 inaugurations.

But Trump said every dress shop in the DC area was sold out because EVERYBODY was coming to his party.

The hotels are not fully booked either. That impacts cabs, restsurants, bars etc.

I bet Trump's hotel is booked...not that anyone is trying to buy favor with him or anything.

At first Trump was going to stay at Blair House the night of the 19th. Later there was talk that Trump would fly down from NYC on the morning of the 20th. So who knows his final plans.

Indications are that private jets arriving at the airports will be way down during the inauguration. During Reagans, George W Bushs and his fathers inauguration the number of private jets was staggeringly high.

That was probably going to happen win, lose or draw becsuse it is the only hotel with such a view of the parade route up and down Pern. Ave.

Maybe I should recheck flight prices, last time I checked about a month ago, the prices were high.... maybe they have dropped back down to normal.

@joepyeweed

If you do, in addition to DCA, also check BWI and IAD which are further out by oftentimes much cheaper. BWI has train service several tmes an hour now direct to Union Station right in the middle of it all. From Dulle there is now bus service to the Silver Line on Metro and on into the city. DCA is still the closest to downtown.

Yes. I was looking at both Dulles and BWI. BWI is only 10 miles farther away from my friends house than Dulles.

My friend lives within walking distance of a Metro stop, so I was planning to fly in, uber to her house and then we were going to take the train to the Mall. But the whole thing is moot, because I've decided not to go. (She is an actuary for the fed gubmit.)

Though my friend is still making me a pink ***** hat and I will wear it on the day and pretend I am there. ;-)

I've never cared about who performed at ANYONE'S inauguration. I just watch the swearing-in ceremony and the speech of whatever new President we have, on TV. That's it. Period.

Never cared about the rest, no matter who took office.

People don't want to show up? I won't even notice.

I don't know why people are shocked by this anyway. WHY??? It's always a given that the entertainment industry is going to show up in droves for a Democratic President.

And avoid a Republican one. Why all the big fuss over this issue??
