Confirmation Hearings...

Have you watched any of the hearings? I watched a good chunk of Jeff Sessions, Rex Tillerson, some of Ben Carson (he is a nut), and am now listening to James Mattis.

Tillerson might not make it. He probably will but not without some discussion. If the republicans lose Rubio in the committee vote it will be interesting. I was told by republicans who were in the public section that the tension does not totally come across on TV.

Why was the second day of Tillerson's testimony cancelled?

@leslie110
They give a variety of reasons but the reality is that he did not knock it out of the park. So the handlers needed to work with him because there ended up being more questions than answers.
If Rubio votes no in committee, about 5 moderate republicans will probably do so in the full senate.

He is/was really furious that some positions under him were filled without his input. Sec of Army being one case. They were also being filled by Trump loyalists.There was talk he would either quit or Trump would withdraw the nomination. Pence and Kellyann smoothed things over and he will quite likeky be fine.
If Tillerson goes down, not many would be surprised if Romney gets nominated for the job.

@AV8R
A lot of people from all over the republican spectrum kind of wanted Romney from the start. However, Trumps supporters rebelled. So if Tillerson fails Pence and Kellyann will probably be given a task to sell Romney to the supporters which did not happen earlier. Apparently, they have smoothed more ruffled feathers than we will ever know.

@joepyeweed
That's one of the reasons why some republicans think Trump could, if need be, go back to Romney becsuse he has already been there and done that and is not a real threat.

Oh vay! Trump just showed the press a stack of folders that turns his business holdings over to his sons, but then won't let anyone look in them. WTF?

See these folder! No you can't look it in them!

I heard they were filled with adult coloring book pages, but he doesn't want anyone to see how far he colored outside of the lines.

Unless the vetting gets much more thorough on some of the ambassadorships, especially in Europe, there could be some major embarrassments for some potential nominees. Two really big ones were caught in time the and the nominations will not be announced.

Sec. of Education designate might yet have some issues. She has been gong around the Senate and meeting the senators. She seems to have a talk and double talk that totally contradicte what she says. She could have a better job of understanding the issues. To this end, the handlers ar working overtime with her before the committee hearings.

It is quite possible that there will be no confirmation hearings for Trumps Sec.of Labor nominee due to huge increase in phone calls and concerns about his positions on labor issues. He is also getting exasperated about the amount of paperwork being required of him.
His confirmation hearings was to begin this week. Because of the phone calls and level of concern about him the hearings have been cancelled and will be rescheduled for February at the earliest.

Regardless of the party do you feel that one round of 5 minute questions is enough to determine if a person is qualified for a cabinet post?

Before the hearings each member of the committee has massive files on the nominees record, speeches, articles, interviews and financial records. Before the hearng the nominee has spent time in one on ond conversation with each member of the committee. On topic that staff members of each senator do thrir on reesrch i the nominee too,
Even with all that there is still not enough time allocated for questioning the candidate and that time should be increasd.
